Khushab FIU seizes 627 smuggled bags of peanuts

KHUSHAB: The Field Investigation Unit of Khushab has confiscated smuggled loaded trailer of foreign origin (F/O) groundnut worth Rs05.5million involving duty and taxes of Rs766304 during a road checking. The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab, following the directions of Assistant Director Ittrat Hussain, constituted different teams to foil smuggling attempts in the region. The FIU team, during road checking, impounded a trailer with registration No: TLT-161 loaded with Foreign Origin (F/O) 627 bags from near Mianwali Toll Plaza.

To a query, driver of the vehicle introduced himself as Ali Rehman son of Taj Muhammad, a resident of Gulshan Sikandarabad Road, Kimari Karachi. He failed to produce any legal documents regarding the transportation of the container and items.

3,000 Iran-bound containers stranded at Karachi port as Hormuz tensions disrupt shipping

The Field Investigation Unit brought the container to Faisalabad Dry Port for proper examination. The container was unsealed in the presence of driver and owner. Its examination led to the recovery of smuggled F/O groundnuts. The goods were confiscated under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act-1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act-1969. However seizure reports have been submitted to the adjudication department for further legal action.
