FAISALABAD: The Field Investigation Unit (FIU) Khushab has confiscated smuggled lubricating oil worth Rs 11,25,000 involving duty and taxes amounting to Rs5,92,200 during a road checking and impounded oil tanker Rs 8,00,000.
According to the details, the intelligence team following the directions of deputy director conducted a raid to foil smuggling attempt in the region. The Customs Intelligence impounded a Bed ford truck bearing Registration No TTA-225 near Sargodha Road Morr Mianwali loaded with foreign origin mixture of low grade Lubricating oil and kerosene oil.
The officials asked driver named Riaz Hussain son of Rab Nawaz residential tehsil and district Multan and owner of goods Muhammad Siddique son of Muhammad Shafi Ali to show documents regarding legal import of the items. on which he produced a Goods Declaration No, 2745 dated 1-02-2017 showing clearance of 330-drums of mixed carbon solvent from NLC Dry Port Quetta by M/s Bismillah Lubricants Canal Bank consignor and consignee Bismillah Lubricants Quetta.
The officials found discrepancies while examining the documents and recovered goods; therefore, they confiscated items under Section 18, 32 of the Customs Act, 1969 read with Section 3(1) (3) of the Import and Export Control Act, 1969.
The intelligence officers Superintendent Zahid Raza Bukhari, Senior Intelligence Officer Tahir Iqbal, Intelligence Officers Naseer Ahmed Muhammad Saleem, Mansoor Nasir participated in the raids. However, seizure reports have been submitted to adjudication department for further legal action.
