Khushab FIU seizes non-duty paid LEDs, LCDs

FAISALABAD: The Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigations Faisalabad, Field Investigation Unit  (FIU) Khushab has seized  non-duty paid LEDs, LCDs smart T.V. The market value of seized items is Rs 14,70,000 involving customs duty and taxes to the tune of Rs 549,994.

Sources told Customs Today that Deputy Director Muhammad Riaz Hussain received information regarding non-duty paid LED, LCD smart T.V. He constituted a customs team comprising Chaudhary Saeed Hayat, Asghar Mehdi Naqvi (IO), Ashiq hussain (driver) and Muhammad Anwar, Sajjad Ahmed, Naeem Niazi and Muhammad Musadiq (sepoys).

Sources said that FIU team during road checking near Sial Mor intercepted a Mazda truck bearing registration No, LWN- 2991 loaded with (434-pair), LED and LCD smart T.V made in China. The team asked its driver who was identified as Zafar iqbal son of Atta Muhammad to produce documents regarding legal possession of the items but he failed to provide any legal documents. The Customs team seized the goods and registered a case against the owner.

The seizure report along with enclosures submitted to the Adjudication department for further proceedings.
