ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for National Food Security & Research Khusro Bakhtiar called on Advisor to Prime Minister on Finance Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh to discussed issues related to agriculture power tariff and their rationalization.
During the meeting, they also discussed the tube well tariff and fuel price adjustment (FPA). Advisor to Prime Minister Dr. Abdul Hafeez Shaikh affirmed that a meeting regarding the tariff structure in agri-sector in particular and also to take account of the subsidies and tariff in power sector, would be held soon to rationalize matters.
It was also felt that the idea of detailed deliberation on the issue and streamlining the power tariff structure in agriculture sector would augment farmers confidence towards better production and development.
The meeting concluded that to finalize power tariff including PFA matters, a meeting with all stakeholders including NEPRA, Ministry of Power and other stakeholders will be called to deliberate the issue holistically for an amicable solution.
