KINGSTON: Property at 66 Half-Way Tree Road, which houses the business of Kia Motors Jamaica and the popular Scotchies eatery, is being auctioned by La Maison Property Services.
The 2.6-acre lot houses two buildings – one includes a show room on the ground floor, while the other has storage areas, eight service bays and offices – as well as the Scotchies establishment, which is ensconced behind foliage towards the back of the premises.
The entrance to both facilities is on Chelsea Avenue.
The auction will be held at the New Kingston Conference Centre on August 27. The successful bid must be accompanied by a certified cheque of 25 per cent of the purchase price.

La Maison indicated in an advertisement that the sale was being done under mortgage.
Attempts to reach Dwight Moore, president of Kia
Motors Jamaica, were initially unsuccessful as he was said to be out of office, but late yesterday he advised that he had no comment other than to say any publicity about the matter would destabilise and have a negative impact on employees and businesses on the property.
Scotchies has operated from the Chelsea premises since June 2010. The operations manager, Rodrick Black, says the eatery’s landlord is Dwight Moore, but La Maison declined to speak to Moore’s involvement, saying only that the property is held by a company. Titles Office records indicate that the owner is Atlantis Properties Limited and that Scotiabank holds two mortgages valued at $114.5 million over the property.
Companies Office records list Moore as a director of Atlantis but he is not a shareholder. The two issued shares in Atlantis are held by Dorothy Turpin and Michael Powell.
