Kidnapped Assistant Commissioner Riaz Miyani recovered from South Waziristan

PESHAWAR: The abducted assistant commissioner Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Riaz Miyani has been recovered from clutches of militants at South Waziristan.

The assistant commissioner was taken away from his home town Tank along with other family members including one soldier of FC in April this year.

The sources informed that the assistant commissioner Riaz Miyani who was kidnapped from Tank has been rescued from the custody of militants by local government in South Waziristan.

FBR officer remained in the custody of militants for three months. Riaz Miyani was kidnapped in April this year from Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Riaz Miayani was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen from Murtaza village of district Tank.

Brother of Riaz Miayani, Ejaz Miayani confirmed to Customs Today that his brother has been freed by the militants.

He added that Riaz Miayani is currently with district officers of South Waziristan. The FBR official’s brother further added that the South Waziristan local administration, Army officials and intelligence agencies have played crucial role in Riaz Miayani’s recovery.

It is pertinent to be mentioned here that on April 24, 2019, some unidentified militants have kidnapped the FBR officer Riaz Miayani from a Hujra in Murtaza village of Tank district.
