During a tour at the centre, His Majesty was briefed by the Jordan Customs Department (JCD) Director Maj. Gen. Waddah Hmoud on JCD’s procedures and plans to automate its services, a Royal Court statement said.

The King stressed the importance of simplifying the processes citizens and investors are required to follow as they report to the department, stressing that such flexibility is prone to improve the business environment, which, he said, is vital for economic growth and job generation.

He noted that the Plan to Stimulate Economy Growth has identified the necessary measures to improve the customs services, which have to be taken as soon as possible.

King Abdullah expressed appreciation for the JCD’s efforts, and its cadres’ role in combatting smuggling, especially narcotics.
