MULTAN: Punjab Agriculture Secretary Muhammad Mahmood has said the Kissan Package was a first step to bring about green revolution and improve financial conditions of farmers.

While talking to a delegation of farmers representatives, the secretary said farmers had been working hard for decades to grow food for people but lamented they had remained deprived of modern facilities. The country would have witnessed agriculture revolution much earlier had farmers been provided sufficient support for application of modern technology by past governments, he said.

He said proceedings were underway on establishment of high tech centres which would help make access of farmers to modern machinery and technology easy. The farmers’ representatives also spoke on the occasion and hailed the government for its farmer-friendly initiatives.
