Kohat ASO seizes items worth Rs 22m in 10 days of May

ISLAMABAD: The Customs Anti-Smuggling Oganisation (ASO) Kohat division, while busting various smuggling attempts, confiscated items worth Rs 22 million during first 10 days of running month, May 2016.

Kohat Assistant Collector Muhammad Ali Asad said that an anti-smuggling campaign has been launched in the region following the directions of the Model Customs Collectorate, Peshawar and the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).

The menace of smuggling was damaging the national economy, he said, adding that effective measures will be taken to limit the smuggling and nab miscreants.

The assistant collector said that the anti-smuggling team seized several non-duty paid items, including tea, cardamom, tyres, batteries, cloth and vehicles during the said period.
