Kohat ASO seizes items worth Rs 32.7m in May

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Smuggling Organisation (ASO), Kohat Division impounded non-customs paid vehicle, heavy machinery and other smuggled goods worth Rs 32.79 million during May, 2016.

Kohat ASO, which falls under the jurisdiction of the Peshawar Customs, Assistant Collector Muhammad Ali told Customs Today that the anti-smuggling squad following the instructions of Collector Qurban Ali was taking stern actions against the non-duty paid vehicles in the region.

The department made many huge seizures non-duty paid vehicles, heavy machinery, and contraband goods during the said period, he said, adding that the target of current fiscal year would be achieved by the end of the year.

The staff of Kohat division was busy in making strategies to tighten noose around the smugglers, he said, adding that curtailing of smuggling will increase legitimate revenue of the country.
