OTTAWA: Konecranes has received an order for five RTG cranes from Termont Montréal, a container terminal operator in the Port of Montréal, Canada. The cranes will be delivered in the second half of 2016.
This follows big news that Konecranes is to unite with port equipment manufacturer Terex as a way of bringing complementary leaders together in lifting, materials handling, and equipment servicing solutions.
Located at a strategic point where the Saint Lawrence River narrows upon its approach to the Great Lakes, the Port of Montréal is an important gateway to the industrial heartland of North America, with Termont Montréal being one of two container terminal operators in the port.
The five RTGs on order are 16-wheel RTGs equipped with Konecranes’ patented Active Load Control system for maximum stacking productivity.
They will have a lifting capacity of 54 tonnes, stacking 1-over-6 containers high and six rows plus truck lane wide. They will be equipped with ‘Autosteering’, a driver-assisting feature which keeps the crane on a pre-programmed, straight path, and stack collision prevention.
Julien Dubreuil, General Manager of Termont Montréal, said: “We selected Konecranes RTGs at the conclusion of a thorough evaluation process covering every aspect of RTG performance, operation, maintenance and support.”
