SEOUL: The business of procedures involving cosmetic fillers has become widely acceptable and in the series the smuggling of such devices and materials from mainland China leading to more and more instances of police intervention.
According to police in Geumcheon-gu, Seoul, a gang of smugglers who illegally imported around ten thousand inject able facial filler and botox products from China, and even performed the medical operations without the necessary licenses here in Korea, were arrested recently. They even cheated some buyers, using industrial silicon instead of approved medical materials in some cases.
In an ironic turn of events, one of the smugglers self-injected the fillers but suffered from serious case of side effects and ended up being hospitalized. The police said the criminals were charging around 200,000 won per procedure – two or three times cheaper than the price at government approved medical clinics.
