Korean envoy concerned as exports down by 3% to 6%, imports by 33% to 23% in 2013-14

FAISALABAD: The Korean Ambassador in Pakistan expressed a hope that bilateral trade ties between his country and Pakistan would deepen as both the governments were taking required measures in that regard.

Dr Jong Song Hwan added exports from Korea to Pakistan were decreased by 3 percent in 2013 and 6 percent in 2014 while exports from Pakistan to Korea were decreased by 33% in 2013 and further decrease of 23% was observed in 2014.

Speaking at a meeting during his visit to Pakistan Textile Exporters Association office, the envoy alsl regretted that the trade volume between his country and Pakistan after touching the $1.6 billion in 2012 decreased to $1.3 billion in 2013 and to $1.17 billion in 2014.

He said that Korea and Pakistan were not only good friends but also two leading trade partners for the last two years. He said that his country regarded Pakistan as priority destination for investment and businesses.
