KP govt asked to promote Islamic banking to ensure development

PESHAWAR – The Bank of Khyber (BOK) organized a “Business Gathering” in Karachi where its managing director said that in order to reduce the poverty among youth, BOK distributed Rs 2.1 billion interest free loan to more than 21 thousand youth.

Shamsul Qayyum also mentioned that Minister for Finance Muzaffar Said also provided Rs 3 billion for Kifalat. He also mentioned that BOK is also promoting Islamic Micro Finance in the province and about investment opportunities in KPK he said that BOK will offer all possible facilities to Karachi business community for their investment in KPK.

On the occasion, Minister for Finance Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Muzaffar Said observed, “Islamic banking and finance system can bring prosperity in our society, if we act seriously on Islamic way of life especially in our financial matters.”

The minister said that KP province was having excellent opportunities for investments in various sectors like tourism, minerals, hydel power, forests and other natural resources etc.
