PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government’s Insaf Food Security Programme (IFSP) is facing delay due to reported irregularities in providing free wheat seeds to farmers.

According to the official sources in KP Agriculture Department, the department has appointed a senior official to investigate irregularities in the seed distribution in Dera Ismail Khan, Hangu, Tank, Lakki Marwat and Karak districts. The sources said the distribution of wheat seed should have been completed by November 15.

The growers are concerned over delay in the distribution of wheat seed as the sowing season of the crop is about to end. Around 60 percent of seed quantity had not yet been distributed among the farmers in Dera Ismail Khan, they said, adding that the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) had seized the record of Insaf Food Security Programme in Manshera district last week after receiving complaints of financial embezzlement in distribution of wheat seeds.
