KP NAB hands over cheque of Rs11.4m to varsity of Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Director General NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Shahzad Saleem handed over a cheque of Rs11.41million to University of Peshawar and FDMA in a grand ceremony held at the NAB main office on Friday.

The NAB had initiated an inquiry against accused Imdadullah (BPS–22) Director/In-charge of Institute of Chemical Sciences, University of Peshawar.

The accused deliberately maintained the cash book entries in a manner of embezzlement of amount.

Cheques of huge amount were not entered into the cash books at all. Interestingly, these cheques were issued in their own names, Arif Ismail and Muhammad Ali, officials of the Dept and the same amounts were then en-cashed.

This amount was drawn under various heads of accounts including HEC, Indigenous Scholarships, Private Funds and MORA Scholarships which resulted in debarring the deserving students.

The amount recovered was also handed over as cheque of
Rs3.88million to Naveed Sardar, Deputy Treasurer, University of Peshawar, today by the Director General NAB (KP).

In another case, accused Inayat Ullah, Agency Coordinator, FATA Disaster Management Authority KP (FDMA) with the connivance of local elders of Bajaur Agency, bank officials and other FDMA officials, included fake/ineligible persons in the payment lists.

He paved the way for embezzling millions of rupees meant for the poor and war affected people of Bajur Agency.

The amount recovered was also handed over as cheque of Rs7.53million to Muhammad Riaz, Director (Admin), FDMA, today by the Director General NAB (KP).

The DG NAB (KP) assured the general public of ensuring the recovering of looted money from the culprits to genuine heirs, and advised the general public to beware of such fraudulent elements and schemes.
