PESHAWAR: At least 10 candidates have filed nomination papers for elections to the executive committee of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KPCCI).
The candidates have submitted the nomination papers for five vacant seats of the corporate group while around 17 candidates submitted nomination papers for the five vacant seats of the associate group of the chamber. Nomination papers were also submitted for one seat of Bannu Town Association and one reserved seat for women.
A meeting of KPCCI election committee was convened under chairmanship of Sufi Bashir Ahmad Durrani. The committee members, Ziaul Haq and Muhammad Ishaq also present on the occasion. The meeting has reviewed thoroughly the nomination papers.
The election commission has cleared the nomination papers of six candidates for corporate group for elections of executive committee of KPCCI, while due to incomplete, nomination papers of four candidates have rejected.
Similarly, the election commission has cleared nomination papers of 11 candidates for association group, while papers of six candidates rejected due to incomplete.
The commission has also cleared the nomination papers for one seat of Bannu town association and one reserved seat for women. Not any other candidate was submitted nomination papers on these two seats, due to which Bannu Association of Trade and Industry, Sajjad Ahmad and Mubarak Begum, on reserved seat for women, elected unopposed. The nomination papers for executive committee elections of KPCCI will be withdrawn by September 7, 2015.
