PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Mohammad Afzal on Friday hoped that government may reopen Pak-Afghan border within next two to three days for trade activities.
The government should facilitate traders by sending back loaded containers of medicines and daily used stuff standing on Pak-Afghan border so as to minimize traders’ losses.

Thousands of containers have been parked on Pak-Afghan border for about a month. Many of them are fully loaded with medicines and daily used commodities, and the expiry dates of some of these items were just away from few days. If government doesn’t want to reopen border then it should facilitate traders in dispatching loaded containers back to various parts of the country which will help minimize their losses, he opined.
Business community is bearing a lot of losses because of border closure. The government should do which is in the best interest of the country but if the situation remains the same then it will certainly affect KP’s industry sector.
He said Federal Minister for Finance Ishaq Dar has also hinted of reopening of the border therefore we are hopeful that Pak-Afghan border will be opened soon. However prior to that the government should ensure concrete steps.
