KPT asks FIA to detect Rs 3 billion scam in govt securities

KARACHI: The Karachi Port Trust (KPT) has requested the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to investigate alleged misappropriation of Rs 3 billion in government securities.

The source informed Customs Today that the suspect officers in the Karachi Port Trust bought Pakistan Investment Bonds at very high rates from the National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) for the purpose of investment.

The suspect officers of the Karachi Port Trust, after buying the Pakistan Investment Bonds from the National Bank, withdrew Rs 3 billion, the source added.

The source further stated that the embezzlement of huge amount of Rs 3 billion and buying of the Pakistan Investment Bonds from the National Bank show that higher authorities are allegedly involved in the crime and it must be investigated to justice to retrieve the stolen money. The FIA will give its report after the investigations.
