Kuwait Customs foils attempt to smuggle Babylonian era antique

KUWAIT: Customs officers at the Abdali border post recently foiled an attempt by a Kuwaiti who was coming from Iraq to smuggle antique item from the Babylonian era, it’s worth approximately millions of dollars.

The priceless antique was hidden in a secret compartment in the trunk of his car. During interrogation the citizen claimed he bought it from one of the Iraqi merchants, but he failed to provide substantial evidence to stake his claim.

The Kuwaiti Interpol is looking for a Kuwaiti businessman identified only as (MH) in connection with several fraud cases and stealing money from dozens of people under false pretexts, reports Al- Seyassah daily quoting reliable security sources. According to sources the Kuwaiti authorities have handed over the issue to Kuwaiti Interpol to arrest him and hand him over for trial in Kuwait. According to reports the fugitive businessman is a relative of an unidentified former MP from the annulled National Assembly and the latter and some members of the HASHD movement are said to have made huge sums of money as a result of their involvement in the fraud and invested the money in real estate.

Police are looking for an unidentified person for impersonating head of Hawally Police Station and stealing two cell phones from an Egyptian, reports Al-Rai daily. The Egyptian in a complaint to the Hawally Police Station said he was walking along a street when the suspect stopped him and demanded to see his civil ID. He then snatched his wallet and cell phones and sped off. He added, he held onto the car but let go after the car dragged him for some distance. The Egyptian has submitted a medical report showing injuries on his body and also information about the impersonator and his vehicle.

Police are looking for unidentified persons for breaking into a livestock pen of a Kuwaiti man in Kabd and stealing a rare goat worth KD 12,000, reports Al-Anba daily. The owner of the pen said he refused to sell the goat during an auction two weeks ago for KD 6,000 because he believes it was half the value of the animal.
