KARACHI: The Sindh government, taking action against ghost employees of the local government, has ordered to lay off as many as 400 employees.
Provincial Minister for Local Governments Sharjeel Memon has directed Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) West Town Administrator Sajjad Memon to dismiss the 400 ghost employees under his jurisdiction.
A spokesperson for the local government, talking to media, said that the ghost employees were currently on the payroll of the Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB) and the KMC and there number was in hundreds.
The spokesperson further said that Sharjeel Memon had directed to terminate all of the employees who have not been performing their duties and receiving pay from the government.
