Kyrgyzstan keen to improve bilateral trade with Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: H. E. Mr. Erik Beishembiev, Ambassador of Kyrgyzstan said that his country wanted to further improve bilateral trade with Pakistan as both countries have great potential to increase trade in many areas. He said this while talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry that called on him led by Nisar Ahmed Mirza, Vice President ICCI. Musharraf Janjua, Izzat Bakhsh and Waqas Janjua were in the delegation.

Kyrgyz Ambassador said that Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan enjoyed good relations that were growing with the passage of time. He said both countries have historical roots, common religion, similar traditions and worldview on many issues. He said that in the recent years, leadership of both countries have shown great interest to further strengthen and develop bilateral and regional cooperation. He said that Kyrgyzstan was quite interested in supporting Pakistan in solving energy crisis and was actively promoting implementation of CASA1000 power export project. He said that the bilateral trade potential between Kyrgyzstan and Pakistan has not been realized as yet and there was a need of taking strong measures from both sides to improve the existing trade volume for mutual benefit.

Speaking at the occasion, Nisar Ahmed Mirza, Vice President, Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan enjoyed excellent political relations that should be transformed into growing trade and economic relations. He said that Kyrgyzstan should consider launching direct flights to Pakistan that would help in improving trade relations. He said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan being members of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) could jointly achieve goals in the areas of transport, energy and trade policy to alleviate poverty from the region.

He said that Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have good potential to promote mutual cooperation in many areas and they should focus on developing strong linkages between their private sectors so that businessmen could explore all untapped areas of trade and exports. He said both countries should also focus on developing better interaction between trade promotion organizations. He said many Pakistan products including pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, textiles, sports and cutlery products could find good market in Kyrgyzstan and it should import these products from Pakistan.
