FAISALABAD: As many as 900 kiln owners have been fined for pay low wages to their workers in Faisalabad district.
A spokesman of the Labour Department Wednesday told APP that the government has notified the wages of the brick kiln workers and directed the owners of kiln houses to pay notified wages whereas local administration has also imposed section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) over payment of low wages.
Despite all these steps taken by the local, Punjab as well as federal governments, some of the kiln owners were still paying low wages to their workers. Therefore, the teams of Lab or department conducted surprise raids and challaned 900 kiln houses over payment of low wages during November in Faisalabad district, he added.
