Lahore ASO seizes Rs1,200m illegal goods & vehicles in October

LAHORE: The Anti-Smuggling Organization of Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has seized Rs1,200 million smuggled / non-duty paid goods and vehicles during the month of October, 2023.

Sources told Customs Today that the Anti-Smuggling Organization of Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Lahore on the directions of Mirza Mubashir Baig, Chief Collector and  Muteen Alam, Collector of Customs Enforcement, Lahore the team of ASO headed by Additional Collector (ASO) and Deputy Collector (ASO), seized huge quantity of smuggled / non-duty paid goods and vehicles during the month of October, 2023 valuing worth Rs1200 million.

The goods include auto parts, betel nut, cigarettes, fabrics, skimmed milk powder, Petrol, shopping bags, electronics goods, cumin seed, tyres, plastic dana, etc. Vehicles include Mercedes, Toyota Lexus, Toyota Majesty, Toyota Axio, Toyota Vitz, Daihatsu Mira, Honda Civic Hybrid, Toyota Corolla Car and heavy bikes.

The cases valuing Rs150.57million were made during the corresponding period of last year (2022-23). An increase of 696.97 per cent is witnessed as compared to the corresponding period of last year.

The sources said the Collectorate under the directions of Member Customs Zeba Hai Azhar persuaded policy of zero tolerance against smuggling which was implemented by Chief Collector Enforcement Punjab Mirza Mubashir Baig and Collector Enforcement Lahore Muteen Alam.

The teams were constituted by Additional Collector ASO Ali Akbar Zaidi led by DC ASO Hameer Khan and raided different godowns and dumping areas of smuggled goods in the vicinity of Lahore and surrounding areas and recovered smuggled goods worth millions of rupees. Raiding teams were consisted of Haamid Babur, Intikhab Alam, Shahzad Khokhar, Zohair Ali and Babar Ali Shah.
