Lahore Enforcement recovers smuggled fabric from Azam Cloth Market

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement has recovered huge quantity of smuggled fabric from Azam Cloth Market.

Sources told Customs Today that Customs Enforcement, Lahore received an information that Azam Cloth Market houses a number of godowns where huge quantity of smuggled fabric is being dumped.

Accordingly, a team of ASO was constituted under the supervision of Deputy Collector (ASO) on 20th April to conduct a raid at these godowns situated at New Azam Market, Sheranwala Gate, Lahore in assistance with local police.

A search warrant was obtained from Judicial Magistrate in terms of Section 162 of the Customs Act, 1969. The search operation resulted in recovery of fabrics of assorted types weighing 70 Ton (approx.) valuing Rs300 million approximately. The examination of the recovered fabric is underway and the exact quantity and value be determined after detailed examination.
