Lahore Enforcement surpasses benchmark seizure value of Rs650m

LAHORE: Collectorate of Customs Enforcement, Lahore has surpassed benchmark seizure value of Rs. 650 million during the month of December. This performance is outcome of stern action against smuggled goods in Lahore.

Under the supervision of Chief Collector Zulfiqar Ali Chaudary, the Collectorate has made 49 seizures of various smuggled goods such as fabric, tyres, betel nuts, skimmed milk, cigarettes.

The Collectorate has not only foiled smuggling attempts of notorious smugglers Haji Sadiq, Nabi Bakhsh and Javed but also done an effective crackdown at various godowns where these smuggled goods were being concealed.

Besides the anti-smuggling squads have seized 13 luxury vehicles worth Rs59 million during the last month of 2nd quarter. The Chief Collector has appreciated the perfomance of Mr. Mohsin Rafiq, Collector, Ms. Aneeqa Afzal, ADC, and Mr. Ali Mohtashim Minhas, Deputy Ccollector Customs Anti-smuggling for their untiring efforts and directed to continue with the same performance in coming months.

Meanwhile, during the month of December, 2022 the Collectorate collected approximately Rs103 million in terms of duty and taxes out of which Rs. 84 million is Customs Duty. The collection of customs duty is 20 percent more as compared to the corresponding month of previous financial year. Further, this collectorate made an outstanding performance in auction and collected Rs. 65 million that is 3 times more than the average per month collection through auction.
