Lahore I&I recovers smuggled dry fruit worth Rs25m from Badami Bagh Railway Station

LAHORE: Directorate of Customs Intelligence and Investigation (I&) team recovered huge quantity of dry fruit from two godowns located at Badami Bagh Railway Station during a intelligence based operation (IBO). The market value of recovered dry fruit is Rs25 million.

Sources said that Director Customs Intelligence and Investigation Saima Shahzad received credible information that huge quantity of dry fruit is dumped in godowns at Badami Bagh Railway Station. She immediately constituted an anti-smuggling squad. The customs I&I team raided the two godowns and recovered cumin seeds weighing 7765 kilograms, almonds (3026 kilograms), Pistachio (1496 kilograms), Kishmish Raisin (540 kilograms), Dry Apricot (400 kilograms) and cigarettes (900,000 numbers).

Sources said that Customs Intelligence and Investigation registered a case of smuggling and started further investigation.

It is necessary to mention here that Director-General Customs Intelligence and Investigation Faiz Ahmad directed to adopted zero tolerance policy against smuggling.
