SYDNEY: Lamborghini has announced that it will launch a new flagship under the name plate of Huracan LP550-2 in 2016 to give a hard hand to Ferrari 488GTB.
Lamborghini chief test driver Giorgio Sanna, speaking with EVO at the launch of the Huracan LP 620-2 Super Trofeo track-only car in Malaysia, said “One of the cars is expected to take the shape of a Huracan Superleggera which aside from adopting a RWD layout will also gain some power and lose weight to better compete with Ferrari 488 GTB. There’s also going to be a more affordable rear-wheel drive Huracan which will likely be commercialized as the LP 610-2.”
Lamborghini Huracan rear-wheel-drive will represent a follow-up to the Gallardo LP 550-2 Valentino Balboni edition which created as a tribute to the legendary Lamborghini test driver Valentino Balboni, the special edition Lamborghini then became a full entry-level production model called the LP550-2 also sold in a Spyder variant.
