ISLAMABAD: Port Qasim and Karachi Port will be equipped with latest scanners worth $18 million. Japan will give 1.8 billion yen for the purpose and this amount will be used for the security of ports. In this regard a contract would be signed in presence of Finance Minister Ishaq Dar by economic affair division and Japanese ambassador in Islamabad.
With installation of scanners a container could be scanned in a minute which will not only result in better performance of ports but would also be helpful in detecting illegal trade and smuggling, especially the items that are smuggled in name of Afghan Transit Trade would be curbed.
