Lawyers boycott court proceedings against Sehwan suicide blast

LAHORE: The legal proceedings at the Lahore High Court (LHC) and the subordinate courts of the city remained suspended as the legal fraternity observed a full-day strike to mourn the deaths of devotees at the shrine of Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in suicide bombing.

The Punjab Bar Council had given a call for the strike to protest the security lapse that led to the blast on the premises of the shrine which took over 80 lives and left around 200 injured.

Lawyers of Customs Court also boycotted the proceedings on Saturday to show solidarity with the victims of Sehwan blast. The courts presented a deserted look as lawyers stayed away from the courts.

The legal fraternity said that the federal and provincial government failing to protect the lives of innocent and defenseless citizens. The bar association demanded of the government to provide foolproof security to educational institutions, mosques and shrines in the country.
