LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Abdu Basit has asked the Customs Valuation Director General to withdraw increase in customs values of rice lights, decorative and charismas lights.
He said that numbers of containers are stuck at Karachi port as well in Lahore, but importers were unable to get them clear due to raising the customs values of the lights. He added that such measure could affect the celebrations of Eidul Miladun Nabi.
He stated this during a meeting with a delegation from Shah Alam Market, where LCCI Vice President Muhammad Nasir Hameed was also present. Both LCCI President Abdul Basit and VP Nasir Hameed assured them of early resolution of their issue.
Earlier, the customs value of decorative lights was fixed at $1.3 per kilogramme that has been raised to $4/kg by the Customs Valuation.
The rice lights are imported from China while customs value goes up when the rice lights are imported from Far East, Europ and other countries. It was therefore the lights are imported from China.
