LAHORE: At a time when international community has kept a deep eye on Pakistan which is one of the most important countries of Asia, there is a dire need for political harmony to give a good message to the foreign investors.
“At a time when economic signals are good and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project (CPEC) is laying foundation for a bright future, political rift and immaturity could play as spoiler”, the LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder and Vice President Nasir Saeed said in a statement on Wednesday.
They said that Pakistan is well on the radar of foreign investors and a large number of delegations from China, Canada and Malaysia have showed their keenness to work hand in hand with their Pakistani counterparts. They said that we should give them a message that Pakistan is a peaceful and good country for trade & investment.
They said that politicians should try to resolve issues through talks as politics of agitation is pushing national economy to the wall.
The LCCI office-bearers said that political unrest had already caused undue damage to the economy in past besides tarnishing the soft image of the country. They said that the country was facing a huge economic loss only because wrong statements and irrational attitude of political players.
They said that at a time when Pakistan Armed Forces are busy in operation Zarb-e-Azab and country is facing severe internal and external challenges, political unrest is bound to affect the national interests.
Anti-Pakistan elements were busy in conspiracies against China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). It was need of the hour that politicians and business leadership should act as defence force for the country, they added.
The LCCI office-bearers said that Pakistan, at this point in time, is in dire need of stability in policy making and strong institutions and to achieve the very objective, both the politicians and the business leaders would have to join their heads for finding out a common economic agenda.
To compete head-to-head with the great nations of the world, the LCCI office-bearers said, the country needs a selfless and visionary leadership who has the ability to think beyond tomorrow to tackle all the governance-related issues and for the sake of future generations.
The LCCI office-bearers said that all the political forces should, without any further delay, initiate consultations with the economic leadership, including the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, to chalk out an elaborate plan of action, aimed at reducing dependence on external assistance and achieving the long-cherished economic goals.
