LCCI demands extension in IT returns filing date till December 31

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) has urged the Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Chairman Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) to extend the date for the filing of income tax returns till December 31, 2016.

In a statement issued here, the LCCI President Sheikh Muhammad Arshad, Senior Vice President Almas Hyder and Vice President Nasir Saeed said that because of political unrest, protests, long Eid holidays, trouble-making FBR online system and trade bodies elections in September, it is impossible for the business community to file income tax returns by the end of this month.

The LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of will not only be a great favor to the business community but will also be in the interest of the government.

Elaborating the point, the LCCI office-bearers said that extension in the date for the filing of income tax returns will help government to achieve its revenue target besides trust building of the private sector.

They said that an extension in the date of filing of income tax returns would not only facilitate the business community but it would also send a very positive signal about private-public sector liaison.

“Extension in the date for the filing of income tax return till December 31, 2016 will give a good message that government honors the business community”, the LCCI office-bearers concluded.
