LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCi) and the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) would share research work for the economic wellbeing of the country.
The decision was taken at a meeting between the LCCI and FPCCI office-bearers at the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The LCCI President Ijaz A. Mumtaz, Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir, Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi, FPCCI President Mian Muhammad Adrees, Regional Chairman Khawaja Zarrar Kaleem, Vice Presidents S.M. Naseer, Hameed Akhter Chadda, former LCCI Presidents Mian Muhammad Ashraf, Iftikhar Ali Malik, Sheikh Muhammad Asif, Shahid Hassan Sheikh, Mian Muzaffar Ali, Muhammad Ali Mian, former Vice President Shafqat Saeed Piracha and executive committee members also shared their views on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the FPCCI President Mian Muhammad Adrees stressed the need for maximizing interaction between the FPCCI and its constituent trade bodies to get resolved the issues being faced by the trade and the industry.
He said that there was a dire need to jointly work for improving Pakistan’s perception that has been tarnished by the enemies of the country for their ulterior motives and to achieve this goal all the chambers of commerce and industry of the country and the trade bodies would have to work hand in hand.
Speaking on the occasion, the LCCI President Ijaz A. Mumtaz gave the office-bearers and Executive Committee of FPCCI a detailed briefing on the measures initiated by the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to supplement government efforts for the economic revival.
He also threw light on ongoing economic challenges and stressed the need for collective approach to bring country out of these problems. He said that both the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry and FPCCI have their own strengths and the joining of hands by the two institutions would bring positive change at the economic front.
He said that Pakistan could not make an impact at international level only because of lack of awareness about latest business methodologies. Had awareness been there for the business community, the situation would have been far better today.
The LCCI President said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry was also spending a considerable amount of energy on the collection of necessary business-related data that would help bring convert certain unorganized sectors into organized ones.
Former FPCCI Chief Iftikhar Ali Malik said that FPCCI strength lies in the strengthening of its constituent institutions therefore all the chambers should work for the promotion of trade and industry.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said that collaboration among Public, Private sector, Academia and Intelligentsia are a prerequisite to achieve the goal of progress and prosperity. They cited the examples of Japan and Korea where an interaction among the Public, Private sector, Academia and Intelligentsia have done miracles.
The LCCI Senior Vice President Mian Nauman Kabir and Vice President Syed Mahmood Ghaznavi said that it was the responsibility of every businessman to play its role to cope with the challenges being faced by the economy of the country.
They also thanked the FPCCI office-bearers for arranging such an interactive session between the FPCCI and the LCCI.
Former FPCCI Vice President Azhar Majeed Sheikh, Tahira Naseem, Rehmatullah Javed and President Anjuman-e-Tajran Autoparts Waqar Ahmed Mian were also present on the occasion.
