LAHORE: Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Saturday appealed to the federal finance minister and advisor to prime minister on commerce to extend date of implementation of recently issued SRO 237(1)/2019 dated February 19, 2019 till July 31, 2019.

LCCI expressed concerns over recently issued notification by the Ministry of Commerce, by virtue of which, it had been made compulsory for all imported food items to have Urdu labeling too on the packaging, describing all the ingredients, nutritional facts and usage directions.

LCCI stated that that decision in Import Policy Amendment SRO 237 of printing Urdu packaging on imported food items must be reviewed as it would hamper the smooth running of businesses.

LCCI appealed the commerce ministry to extend the date of implementation of SRO 237 (I)/2019 till July 31, 2019.
