LCCI to invite foreign envoys to take part in LSF

LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has decided to invite all foreign Ambassadors/High Commissioners to take part in festivities of the Lahore Shopping Festival (LSF-2013) scheduled for August 17 to August 26.

The decision was made at a meeting chaired by the LCCI Senior Vice President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh and attended by the office-bearers of the Trade/Market Associations and the representatives of the leading brands. The meeting remained in session for more than two hours and finalised modalities for all the seven events of the nine-day Lahore Shopping Festival-2013.

It was also decided that all the Foreign Missions and High Commissions would be asked to put up at least one stall each of their respective country at the three-day expo at the Lahore Expo Centre and also send a set of recommendations/guidelines for Pakistani exporters so that the same could be shared with them at the proposed Exporters Conference to be held on the sidelines of the three-day expo during the Lahore Shopping Festival.

The participants of the meeting appreciated the LCCI’s decision to invite foreign diplomats saying that it would not only be giving them firsthand knowledge about the true potential of Pakistan but would also help increase business community liaison with Ambassadors/High Commissioners.

The LCCI Senior Vice President said the LSF Shopping Hangamma that includes a food festival, concerts and Puppet Shows planned at Liberty Market, Anarkali and Moon Market would not only help highlighting the soft image of the country but would also in familiarising the foreign participants with Lahori cuisine.

On the suggestion of representatives of the leading brands/companies, it was also decided that an 800cc car, motorcycles, fridge and LCDs would be given to the participants through lucky draws while the businessmen in Liberty, Anarkali and Moon Market would be asked to announce special discounts during the nine days of the festival.

About the Young Entrepreneurs Business Plan Competition, it was decided that only the students of HEC recognised universities would be eligible to present their business plans in the competition and the winners would be honoured with cash prizes and their institutions would be given special certificates by the Chamber. A detailed discussion on the judges of the various events of the LSF-2013 was also held during the course of the meeting.
