LEAs & Customs Preventive nab 9 persons involved in stealing goods from state warehouse

KARACHI: Collectorate of Customs Preventive, Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has arrested 09 persons involved in stealing goods from the State Warehouse-III.

According to the details, on the directives of Collector Saquif Saeed and Additional Collector Omar Shafiq, Assistant Collector Shafiullah and Superintendent Jabbar Niazi conducted intelligence based operation (IBO) in Keamari with the assistance of Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Police.

The leader of the gang Saleem aka Podri has also been arrested, while hunt is on to nab the master mind of the theft, Rehman.  It is hoped that the stolen goods would soon be recovered.

Sources said Customs Preventive had lodged an FIR at Jackson Police Station as goods are being stolen from the State Warehouse in Kemari.

Customs staff deputed at the said Warehouse including Sepoy Warsha and Sepoy Majeed Niazi have been placed off-duty and fact finding inquiry has been initiated, which is being conducted by Omar Shafique, Additional Collector (HQ-I) and  Shafi Ullah, Assistant Collector (HQ-I) for ascertaining the involvement and role of Customs staff posted at State Warehouse-III.

Sources said theft of goods from the state warehouse was going on for some time and certain staff was involved in this theft.

The arrested thieves include Ikram, Salman, Zeeshan, Shah Wali, Amir Mehmood, Kamran aka Kami, Kamran aka kami (Patla), Yousif  and Saleem aka Podri. CT
