Leather industry wants concessions in export of fur trimming products

KARACHI: Asif Rahim, the general secretary of the Pakistan Leather Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association, has said: “The leather industry generates billions of rupees foreign exchange for the country and plays an important role in the economy of Pakistan”. He appealed to the Customs authorities to allow them to put fur on leather products, which has great demand in the international market.

He said that export of leather products increased by 11 percent during 2013-14 while $621.52 million leather products are exported during the current fiscal year. In 2012-13, he says that export earning recorded an extra $60.227 million.
