BEIRUT: General Security said Tuesday it arrested three men – two Lebanese and a Syrian – accused of running a human smuggling ring.
The state-owned National News Agency said the ring is allegedly involved in smuggling Syrian nationals into Lebanon.
It said the suspects have been handed over to judicial authorities.
Friday, five members of a smuggling network involved in transporting migrants from Lebanon to Europe were arrested off the southern coast of Sarafand.
The smugglers were arrested by Lebanese Army intelligence in the southern port city of Sidon Friday hours after the Navy seized an overloaded boat carrying 36 migrants off the coast of Sarafand.
