BEIRUT: Lebnon Customs arrested a woman who was trying to smuggle drugs to a man in Baabdaprison.
The Inspection Unit of Baabda’s Justice Palace arrested Lebanese national Nehme Youssef for trying to smuggle four grams of cocaine to Ahmad Bizri, the source said.
Bizri is a detainee whose first trial session was scheduled for Thursday at Baabda’s court, he added
After the arrest, Youssef admitted to police that she had been planning to smuggle the drugs to Bizri, and that the latter had arranged a meeting between her and a drug dealer.
The dealer, whom she met at a neighborhood in Ain al-Remmaneh, gave her the cocaine after he had made an agreement with Bizri, the source added.
From February to March of this year, Lebanese security services have arrested nearly 1,000 people on a number of crimes including smuggling and drug trafficking.
