NEW DELHI: Lenovo’s A6000 affordable smartphones are put on sale via e-commerce website Flipkart. The lucky few who managed to add the phone in the cart will need to purchase the phone.
Neither Lenovo nor Flipkart revealed the number of units that went on sale. Lenovo has adopted a flash sale model for A6000. This is similar to how Xiaomi and Micromax-owned Yu, which recently launched Yureka smartphone, sell the phones.
The A6000 is priced at Rs.6, 999 and is the cheapest 4G smartphone in India. It is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad-core SoC clocked at 1.2GHz and hardware based 64-bit support for apps. It also has 1GB RAM and 8GB of internal storage.
The phone flaunts a 5-inch 720p IPS display. It has a 8-megapixel camera on the back and a 2-megapixel camera on the front. It even has stereo speakers with Dolby’s technology and has a 2,300mAh battery.
The dual-SIM smartphone runs on Android 4.4 KitKat on top which Lenovo has added the Vibe UI 2.0. The phone takes on the likes of the Xiaomi Redmi 1S, the Moto E and the Nokia Lumia 638 in the market.
The phone was unveiled at CES 2015 and was then launched in India within a week.
Back at its launch Lenovo’s director for the mobile business in India, Sudhin Mathur, indicated that as it is a new product Lenovo may have limited units, but it will scale up production for the product.
