LAS VEGAS: Chinese laptop maker Lenovo has unveiled a series of fresh devices for its business user-focused Thinkpad line-up, including a third generation Thinkpad X1 Carbon ultrabook.
The updated laptop now features an even thinner and lighter chassis, measuring 17.7mm thick and weighing just under 1.3kg.

Lenovo said it didn’t go for an Intel Core M design with the upgrade and instead opted for the chipmaker’s upcoming 5th Generation Core processor to bring the best possible performance for its form factor.
The laptop will be available with FHD or WQHD screen options and will boast over 10 hours battery life.
Other features include PCIe SSD options and some refinements made to keyboard. The ThinkPad X1 Carbon start at $1249 and will be available in the US from January 2015.
As well as the ThinkPad X1 Carbon, Lenovo also announced additions to its Thinkpad Yoga Family, including new 14 and 15in models along the existing 12in version to make “a complete family of Thinkpad products focused on the enterprise”.
The Thinkpad 12, 14, 15 will also feature Intel’s latest Core i processor as opposed to Core M for more power, and the smaller 14in model will measure 19mm thick and weigh less than 1.6kg. There’ll also be an option of Nvidia graphics in 14 and 15in models, Lenovo said, with an Intel Realsense camera options in 15in version.
Other features include up to a 512GB SSD drive, four use modes with a back lit keyboard, FHD screen with optional touch and the models will all include the “lift and lock” keyboard that featured in the original 12in design. These devices will launch in February and be available at different price points depending on configurations.
Lenovo also unveiled the Thinkvision X24 at the kickoff of CES this week, a “premium super-thin monitor” aimed at users wanting a monitor with a good set of features at an affordable price point. It features an chassis measuring 7.5mm thick, a Full HD resolution, HDMI and DP inputs, and will start at $245 when it hits the US market.
Lenovo has also made the Thinkvision X24’s bezel thinner on the left, right and top axis so users can put two of them next to each other and create the appearance of one giant monitor for multi-screen set ups.
