ISLAMABAD: The Electric Supply Company (Iesco) Chief Executive Officer Malik Yousaf Awan stated that Iesco has made attempts and reduced loadshedding for the industrial sector from 5 hours to 2 hours in a day (from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.) in order to increase the production of industrial sector.
He said Iesco was considering to introduce an SMS service for consumers to enable them to lodge complaints through messaging service.
He was talking to a delegation of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI), led by ICCI President Muzzamil Hussain Sabri. During the meeting, the ICCI delegation apprised the CEO of electricity-related issues, including loadshedding, which is greatly affecting the industrial sector.
Yousaf Awan said Iesco was also planning to introduce AMI meters that would automatically record the meter reading and would end the role of meter readers. This would enable Iesco to rationalise its staff strength and perform more efficiently.
Speaking on the occasion, Muzzamil Hussain Sabri appreciated the decision of Iesco for reducing loadshedding duration for industrial sector as it would help industries to operate to their full capacity and improve productivity. He said Iesco should change loadshedding timing from existing 5 p.m.-7 p.m. to 6 p.m.-8 p.m. so that industrial units could enhance their manufacturing activities.
