PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan, taking notice of unscheduled loadshedding, has directed the Pesco authorities to ensure minimum power outages in the province.
According to an official statement, the Governor said that Pesco authorities should make their administration more transparent and responsible to improve their performance. He said that less loadshedding would be observed during Ramazan.
The governor expressed these views while chairing a meeting of the Board of Directors of Pesco at Governor’s House. The meeting was briefed by Hasan Fazil, the acting chief executive of Pesco, regarding functioning of electrical system in the province.
He said that power theft and line losses were two major issues but those people, who were paying their electricity bills regularly, should not punished with prolonged loadshedding for those reasons.
The administration of Pesco should improve its performance by becoming more transparent and fulfilling its responsibilities, consequently power theft and line losses would be controlled, Mr Khan said.
The governor directed the officials concerned to take strict action against black sheep and corrupt people in the department and ensure stable supply of electricity to the consumers.
