Levy of regulatory duty will not affect common man: Member Customs Zahid Khokhar

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has disclosed that many Chinese items are dumped in Pakistan and in this contexts, regulatory duty has been imposed on 731 luxury items.

The FBR has assured the Pakistani traders that regulatory duty has been imposed on only import of luxury items which are not in use of common man and no essential food items are included in the list.

A delegation of All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran comprising Chairman Khawaja Shafique, President Ajmal Baloch, Secretary General Naeem Mir, President KPK Haji Mehar Elahi, President Balochistan Abdul Rahim Kakar, Yasin Mengal and Abdul Rehman visited Federal Board of Revenue.

Special Advisor to Prime Minister for Revenue Haroon Akhtar, Member Customs Muhammad Zahid Khokhar and Member Operations Inland Revenue Khawaja Tanveer Ahmed welcomed the delegation at the FBR.

Later a meeting between traders delegation and FBR high-ups was held in conference room on the issue of Regulatory Duty. Special Advisor to Prime Minister Haroon Akhtar, presided over the meeting while Member Customs and Member Inland Revenue also participated.

Traders briefed the high-ups of Federal Board of Revenue about their problems and issues and demanded that board increase the powers of commissioners so that traders normal issues could be resolved at RTOs Level they also demanded that If once any traders name comes up in audit list then his name should not be given for Audit in next five years.

FBR high ups assured the traders that they will consider on their demand and issues and will try to resolve it as early as possible.
