TOKYO: Lexus has announced it will unveil a refreshed ES sedan at this month’s Shanghai Auto Show. Arriving as a mid-life makeover, this update will see the latest evolution of the Lexus styling language grafted onto the snout of the ES.
A dramatic refresh of the familiar ‘Spindle’ grille design will feature up front, its thickened chrome frame now reaching further toward the bonnet.
New headlights will also feature, with a redesigned L-shaped LED daytime lamp extending away from the body of the driving lights.
Little else has been revealed at this stage, although we can likely expect international models to continue with the current line-up’s 2.5 and 3.5 litre V6 engines.
In Australia, the current ES, which launched here early last year, is offered in petrol 350 and petrol-electric 300h grades.
The updated ES will hit Australia later this year, Lexus has confirmed with TMR today.
Figures at the end of March show the ES on 117 sales for the year so far, compared to 482 for its rear-wheel-drive IS stablemate.
But, while the ES sits well behind the IS on the company sales board, it is comfortably outperforming Infiniti’s new Q50 sedan, which has 78 sales to its name so far in 2015.
