LONDON: Lexus has just unveiled a special Virtual Reality app for its fans which allows you to jump onboard an RC F at Spain’s famous Ascari circuit. While it certainly isn’t as good as driving the sports car for real, it is the next best thing.

The app is available for both Android and iOS devices where it is essentially a detailed 360-degree video. For the full experience, Lexus’s virtual reality app can be experienced through the Google Cardboard VR Viewer or alternatively, a special Lexus version of the Oculus Rift VR headset.

PC and Mac users can also experience some of the app’s functionalities thanks to the 360-degree YouTube videos also released.

According to Lexus Europe’s Head of Marketing, Spirros Fotinos, “For the RC F, we have created an amazing virtual reality experience that can be enjoyed and shared by anyone, anywhere – without the traditional hardware limitations. The combination of realism, multi-platform availability and YouTube 360° video streaming makes it truly a world first.”
