SEOUL: LG has announced that it is releasing the AKA smartphone to new markets and Hong Kong will the first market outside South Korea to get the phone, followed by China, Taiwan, Singapore and Turkey. The smartphone might reach even more markets going forward, but their names haven’t been confirmed at this point.

To remind you about LG AKA, the company has created this phone with a personality and it will be released in four personas – Eggy (falls frequently in love), Wooky (impulsive), Yo-Yo (Always on a diet) and Soul (soft-hearted and music loving). According to LG, the characters’ personalities are an integral part of each phone as they are woven into wallpapers, widgets and ringtones. To make these phones more palatable to the global consumers, LG has added an emotional UX element to AKA.

This is a whole new direction in smartphone UX and we’re excited about where it may take us,” said Juno Cho, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.

Coming to the specifications, the LG AKA phone features a 5-inch HD IPS display, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1.5GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage and microSD card slot. In addition, LG has included 4G LTE support, NFC and the usual set of connectivity options. The company also bundles several stickers with the phone to help you customise it as per your liking.
