LG expects its own cell phone chipset

TOKYO: LG is always working hard to be on the level of the other popular smartphone companies. It is also making its little steps on the chipset market. LG is expecting to plan its own cell phone chipset. Its NUCLUN chip scarcely made it outside South Korea as it was supposedly overheating.

Bits of gossips about another LG-made chipset surfaced. The rumors claim that LG is aiming at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810.

A new rumor just hit us. It claims that LG is preparing a second generation of the NUCLUN chipset.

This time around, the rumor has it that the NUCLUN 2 will be gunning for Samsung’s top-tier Exynos 7420 chipset.

The chipset can be found on the Galaxy S6, S6 edge, S6 edge+, and Note5. A few specs of the second-gen NUCLUN were supposedly spilled.

It apparently uncovered that the new chipset will be an octa-center with four Cortex-A72 ones running at 2.1GHz and another four humming at 1.5GHz.

It is additionally asserted that LG will coordinate with TSMC on the improvement of the second NUCLUN. The second- gen NUCLUN will reportedly be based on the chipset maker’s 16nm manufacturing technology.

Aside from a percentage of the asserted specs, certain reputed Geekbench benchmark scores are additionally associated with the NUCLUN.

As indicated by them, the chipset has scored a Geekbench score of 5392 points in multi-threaded mode and 1796 focuses in single-threaded mode.

This puts it in front of the Exynos 7420 SoC on the Galaxy S6, which has scored 4970 and 1486 focuses in multi-and single-strung modes, individually. Of course, such bits of gossip can be effectively manufactured.

So we will have to wait for a bit to know about the truth.
