LHC accepts bail plea of Qasim Zia in multi-million rupee fraud

LAHORE: Senior leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and former president of Pakistan Hockey Federation, Qasim Zia, was granted bail on Wednesday in a multi-million rupee fraud.

According to details, a two-member bench of the Lahore High Court (LHC) has accepted bail request of the accused after a counsel of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) said he has no objection to his bail.

NAB counsel also informed the court that the accused deposited a bank draft worth Rs 80 million against which high court granted bail to Zia.

It is pertinent to mention here that Qasim Zia was arrested last month over corruption charges. Moreover, Sindh High Court also accepted bail plea of PPP leader Ali Nawaz two days ago.
